The book "Recruit",  is about a boy named James. He is getting teased about his mum so he does something about it. He runs away from school and goes home. His mum gives him money so he can get dinner on the way home from picking up his sister Lauren. He gets ambushed on the way back and hurt badly.

He takes the money from his mum's safe. He has to go to a special school because his mum is very sick and in a coma. James has to share a room with a boy named Kyle who tells him what to wear,  and then James gets teased,  so Kyle and James have a fight. He goes to the headmasters  office, and the headmaster
takes him to a martial arts dojo to start training to be an agent.

 He does lots of training there, and passes the tests. He goes to a village. He sits by the bonfire. James watches the remote controlled cars with his friends at the village. James found a work shop under ground at the village.. He then goes to the hospital because of something in the underground which makes him sick.  He recovers well. The police enter where he is sleeping at the village.. Afterwards,  he drives back to the school with his friends. James enters the headmaster's office again but this time to get a special top to wear. His friends say he brought it from home,  but his team mates said he earned it so everyone was very proud of him.
