This is the first book of the Ranger's Apprentice series, The 280 pages in this book will give enjoyment to anyone within the age range and maybe even higher. This is a medieval themed book that is based around one character called Will. His dad died in the war where mythical animals attacked Castle Redmont (Where he lives). Ever since his dad died he wanted to be a warrior to follow in his footsteps. But, when he was at the choosing ceremony he got picked to be a ranger, not as a warrior. Although desperately wanting to be a warrior he accepted that he had to be a ranger, so his training started with Halt.

The mythical animals are going to attack his castle for the second time, after losing the first time they are hoping to win this time. Will's job is to get information of how they're going to attack. He has to go searching across the plains of Uthal to get to their castle. Will he find be able to find out how they're going to attack? Will Castle Redmont be able to stop them?
