Matilda is a well known book written by Roald Dahl, about a young girl that loves to read. Matilda is a book that has lots of adventures throughout the way and you can never tell whats going to happen next.
It all starts when Matilda found a passion for reading when she was 4. She read newspapers, till one day when Matilda decided to go to a library. She started to read kids books, then teen books and finally adults books. With the help from Mrs Phelps (the librarian), Matilda learns how to borrow books. Mrs Phelps thought Matilda was a lovely and extraordinary girl, but her parents did not. Her parents thought both reading and Matilda were a waste of time and space.
Matilda's dad is a salesman who lies about what he sells. He only cares about business, being rich and Matilda's brother taking over the business. Matilda's mum on the other hand cares about her looks and also being rich and has a gambling problem with the game of bingo. Matilda was getting quite sick of her parents and decided to pull some tricks on them, even though she knew it was wrong. Did she get away with them? Does anyone realise what she is doing?
Matilda started school late and was put in the lowest class. Miss Honey the young and friendly teacher and Miss Trunchbull the principal were her classroom teachers. Miss Honey was stunned about Matilda's skills of reading and mathematics and went to Miss Trunchbull to ask to about Matilda moving to the highest level. Miss Trunchbull refused to let Matilda go up levels because she had Mr Wormwood's word that Matilda was a brat. Miss Honey refuses to let this happen and is going to try to get Miss Trunchbull to let her go up the highest level and not let Matilda's talents go to waste.
Suddenly Matilda discovered an extremely rare power. She can move things with her eyes. She was so happy, she wanted to keep it a secret, but she had to tell one person that she trusted which was Miss Honey. Miss Honey was amazed and offered Matilda to come to her house to investigate her extraordinary power. Will she keep her power forever?
I think Matilda is a lovely book that is very inspiring and adventurous. I highly recommend reading it if you haven't already. Matilda is great read for emerging readers through to confident readers.
I've got the book and it is as good as you say it is. You should add that Matilda didn't know her dad was a cheat until the end of the book. I would recommended the book too! Way different from the movie!
