The main characters of this book are Stella, Aunt Alberta, Alberta's owl Wagner, Soot the ghostly chimney sweep and the butler Gibbon. Aunt Alberta killed Stella's parents and tries to trick Stella into handing over the inheritance. Luckily Stella is very smart and knows that it is odd for her auntie to want all the money of Saxby Hall.

Aunt Alberta tries lots of things to trick Stella. One of her main sneaky tricks is to dress up as a detective who supposedly knows everything about Stella's parents' death. Alberta won't tell Stella much about her parents' death and won't tell her any information until she gets the money.

Stella finds her aunt is annoying and mean. She wishes that her mum and dad were back at the house but she doesn't know how they died. When her aunt locks her in the cellar, Stella meets a ghost. Stella is scared at first but then gets to know him and they become friends. They climb up the chimney and escape from the cellar. Unfortunately Aunt Alberta catches Stella but can't see the ghost because when you are an adult, you can't see ghost's. Sadly, when Stella has her next birthday, she won't be able to see Soot the ghost either.

Awful Auntie is an exciting, mystery book, you won't know what will happen next! This book probably interests more girls than boys but some boys will definitely like this book. Lots of books can take a while to start enjoying but this book instantly draws you in.

Awful Auntie is truly a book to love and I think any child between the ages of 9-12 will love this book. David Walliams writes some awesome books but this is probably one of his best books done.
