Sadako is a two year old girl when the atom bomb hit in Japan Hiroshima. It is ten years later and she is twelve years old and finds out that she has got radiation from the bomb. The disease is called leukemia. She knew she would die soon. But when all hope is lost she finds out that if she makes 1000 paper cranes she will get a wish from the gods.

This is a true story of a girl who has radiation from the atom bomb and tries to make 1000 paper cranes. I loved this book it teaches you a very important lesson and that lesson is live life because you never know when your light is out
